The flexible working schedule is a plan that allows employees to set their working hours around a central hourly basis. It's called flexible schedule because workers flexibly determine the time of entry and exit. In simple words, flexibility means a better distribution of working time rather than shorter hours. This working schedule has resulted in higher level of employee satisfaction, increased productivity, and better working environment in addition to proper management of working time. Employees are authorized to manage their job schedules, hence reducing absenteeism. This phenomenon has proved to extremely useful especially in case of working mothers, who find it difficult to manage their job along with their family life. Whereas, this timing has shifted to home working also, flexible working hours refers to an option offered by the organization to the employees in which they select their own working hours, usually within the approximate boundaries of the time period determined by the employer. Work-life balance is an increasingly important topic in modern-day life, where there exists a race against time in every individual's lifestyle. Each one of us is continually struggling to achieve the best out of life, while making compromises here and there. While work is important for personal prosperity and professional development, it often flourishes at the stake of family life and privacy. This assignment is based on discussing the extent to which work-life balance plays its part in contributing towards the well-being of individuals in present-day workplaces. To find a balance between our work and our personal lives, we must reconcile all know our priorities. Each person finds their own balance, which is different from the others. Given these differences, it may be difficult to define exactly what the work-life balance, but when our life is not balanced, we are generally aware (Raven, 1992). According to sociologists and psychologists, work-life balance finds great application in modern studies, as the conflict between the management of work with lifestyles continually perplexes modern-day human beings. There are many ideologies and theories that address these issues and unveil a potential for increasingly manageable balance between life and work. Preference theory relates to a polarization of work-lifestyles as is shown in woman's diversity according to increased responsibilities. In prosperous societies, the theory argues that woman's preferences become centrally important to the roles they choose for themselves. These preferences are given either to responsibilities related to family well-being or the work related to employment and competitiveness in the workplace.

Spillover theory, according to Raven (1992), revolves around the conceptualization that the work sphere can have a positive or negative impact on the family sphere, meaning that attitudes and behaviors (such as distress from working long hours) can create distress at home with family members.
