School bullying has become a common issue that is prevailing in the society. It can cause harm to the victims and can damage the peace and harmony in the society. Usually children form a group and harm others physically and emotionally. According to a recent survey, bullying can negatively affect the psychological behavior of a person. It can emotionally distress students and can cause harm to their social life. (Beane, 2010).
I believe that every school and college should have a dean that will be responsible to oversee the non academic activities of the students. He will be responsible to coordinate all the major events at school and will ensure that all the extracurricular activities are aligned with the goals and objectives of the educational institutions. Moreover, the dean should also be responsible top provi8de a safe and healthy environment to the students and should prevent bullying in the school. He should interact with students and should create a friendly environment so that the morality can be maintained.
Discussion
School bullying has become a national issue, in almost all schools and colleges at all levels. I have observed that it has become the primary concern for the teachers and administration in schools and colleges. I believe that all schools and agencies should corporate with each other to contribute to the safety of the students.
Over the years I have examined that bullying is the most underreported safety problem in school campuses. It has been stated that bullying usually exists in schools that any other place in the society. I believe that schools and colleges should create a position of dean who will be responsible to oversee the issues regarding bullying and should try to create an environment that will ensure safety and harmony. (Dake, Price & Telljohann, 2003).
Bullying problems
Bullying is a problem that has been existing in the society for so many years. As far as I have observed, bullying can occur at any time with anybody. It can take place at school, colleges, and workplace and even at home. During my research, I have examined that extensive studies have been done on this issue. It was found that around 8% to 38% of students are bullied regularly. They are either physically or emotionally bullied by other students in the campus.
In America very few studies have been conducted to explain and highlight this issue. According to a recent survey, higher and harsh level of bullying has been observed in America than any other country. The report concluded that around 13% of sixth to tenth grade student's bully and around 10% students fall victim to bullying. This study only highlighted results based on elementary age and did not included students of high school and college level. Several other studies have also shown that students in high school are more likely to fall victim of bullying than any other age group in schools. (Fried & Blanche, 2009)
