Introduction

The biography of great men is what really defines the history of the world. Jesus and Mohammed are the two men who have a profound influence on the world. The foundations of the cultures and law in nation are based on the teachings of these two men. Mohammed words provide the roots for the beliefs of almost half of the world's people in the period of 7th century. In the 1st century the Jesus Christ teachings serve as a man of providing foundations for the beliefs of the world's inhabitants. This essay is of an exploratory nature highlighting the comparison and contrast of the lives of Jesus and Mohammed in relation to each of their respective religion.

Discussion

Muslims and Christians are the nations who have a strong belief on the existence of God. However, the religious differences that are hold by them have brought a number of changes in the 21st century world. The course of history had been shaped by the teachings of Mohammed and Jesus. Christianity and Islam occupy the position of being the two largest religions having followers if 1.8 billion and 1 billion respectively. The Muslims and the Christians are seems to be present in every part of the world. The similarities and the differences between Mohammed and Jesus have been reflected in their respective religions.

Lives of Jesus and Mohammed

The religion of Islam is based on the teachings of Holy Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.). He is regarded as the last Messenger of Allah. He took birth as an orphan in the Arabian City of Mecca and worked as a merchant and shepherd. . Unlike Jesus, Mohammed got married first at the age of 25 years and he ended up with ten wives and a daughter. The discontentment he felt from his life made him live in a cave for the purpose of reflection. It was in the cave that he had received first revelation from Allah at the age of 40 years. He got courage to start preaching publicly the revelations he has obtained from God (PBS Program., 2002). The teachings were very similar to those preached by Jesus declaring God as only one and that He love his creatures. The point that sets Islam apart from Christianity is the fact that Muslims do not consider Mohammed as Godly in any way. They hold a belief that Angel Gabriel brings messages of God to the Mohammed. Mohammed possesses a compassionate nature towards all the beings whether they are animals, orphans, widows etc. (Fisher, 2005)

The birth of Jesus took place in the Bethlehem and the Mary and Joseph are considered to be the earthly parents of the baby. At the age of twelve years, Jesus was been taken to Jerusalem for Passover where he was lost in a crowd and lost his parents.
