Sartre was born in the summer of 1905. His father died when he was just fifteen months old. For the little orphan, the maternal grandfather, Charles Schweitzer, a man nostalgic towards the past, who becomes a father figure. Under the influence of this being a strong personality, the young Sartre a taste for literature and writing.
