This paper intends to discuss about a jazz musician selected from the list provided by the professor of this course. The paper will revolve around exploring the historic jazz style represented by the musician selected along with his or her individual performance style. In particular; the paper will discuss the general characteristics of the historic jazz style, individual stylistic characteristics for which the performer is known and a conclusion which will offer insight into the artistry and significance of the piece and performer selected. Also; the paper will focus over a piece of the artist which is notable and underlying observations from listening to the piece will be provided. The purpose of this paper is to make the readers aware about the significance of historic jazz music and the specific style of the performer selected.
Musician Selected
I have selected Chris Wood who is an American bass player. There are various reasons for selecting Chris Wood as my choice for this paper. The first and foremost important reason is my personal liking of Chris Wood. I have always been a great fan of Chris Wood and I am simply amused by the way he works. Also; an important reason behind selecting Chris Wood is that the music played by Chris Wood made me addicted to the jazz music; which previously I do not used to like. Therefore; I believe it remains important for me to discuss the music of Chris Wood. The collaborations Chris Wood choose to make resulted in his success. For instance, the collaboration with John Medeski and Billu Martin was the most important one in the career of Chris Wood.
About Chris Wood
The actual name of Chris Wood is Christopher Barry Wood. He was born in November 1969. Chris Wood is a popular bass player and is extremely famous for playing his avant-garde jazz funk. Chris Wood created MMW (Medeski, Martin & Wood) in 1991 in collaboration with John Medeski and Billy Martin. Also; Chris Wood collaborated with his brother Oliver Wood with the name of Wood Brothers.
