In today's world, information systems are significant to the survival of any business. Effective information systems are the sole foundation of conducting business activities in an efficient manner. There is not a slightest chance of conducting business without the extensive use of information systems. The paper aims at describing the importance of information systems with the example of an actual business enterprise. The papers strives to examine the information requirements at decision making levels in the management and recommend reliable, sophisticated and user-friendly information systems at each level to support the business functions. Further, the paper aims to evaluate the suitability of the information systems currently in use at TESCO and through proper analyzing, would recommend advance technologies to make a difference to business functions at TESCO. Next, the paper evaluates the security measures and their suitability, implemented by TESCO, for their information systems. Lastly, the paper examines the suitability of using Cloud Computing for the provision of information systems at TESCO.

Tesco plc. - A British-based leading international retailer was founded in 1919 in London. According to a report published in Guardian (Hawkes, 2011, pp. n.d.). Tesco reported record profits of £3.8 billion with an average of £10 million a day. It has become the largest British-based retailer with a domestic and international market share. Tesco's international business strategy effectively responds to the need of being sensitive to the expectations of international buyers.
Therefore, Tesco has entered into other countries by establishing joint ventures with local partners. Tesco is currently operating in the following international markets: USA, South Korea, Thailand, Ireland, Slovakia, Poland, Malaysia, Japan, India, China, Czech Republic and Hungary. Tesco is considered as the world's third largest retailer in terms of revenues and world's second largest retailer in terms of profits (Potter, 2011, pp. n.d.). Tesco emerged as a food and drink retailer, originally but, later diversified its activities into various areas such as consumer clothing, electronics, telecoms, financial services, consumer home, health and car insurance, internet software and internet services.
The stores in UK have been divided into six different formats according to their sizes and the variety of products being sold. These six formats, based upon the sizes and range of products, are: Tesco Extra Stores, Tesco Superstores, Tesco Metro stores, Tesco Express stores and One stop stores.
