DISCUSSION

Recommended technology for Office

Wi-Fi is the name of the industrial technology of wireless communication, referring to a group of wireless network standards IEEE 802.11. To some extent, the term Wi-Fi is synonymous with 802.11b, as 802.11b standard was the first group of standards IEEE 802.11 has been widely disseminated. Today, however, the term Wi-Fi is equally applicable to any of the standards 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, and 802.11n. (http://static.tigerdirect.com/html/wireless-Info-New2.html).

Wi-Fi Alliance certification deals with Wi-Fi products to help ensure that all 802.11 products entering the market comply with the standard. Unfortunately, the standard 802.11a, which uses the frequency of 5 GHz, is not compatible with standard 802.11b / g, using the 2.4 GHz frequency, so the market for Wi-Fi products remains fragmented. For our country, it is irrelevant, since the use of 802.11a equipment, special permission is required, and it has not been widely available here, besides the vast majority of devices that support the 802.11a, also support 802.11b or 802.11g, which allows to consider about the compatibility of all products sold at the time of Wi-Fi devices. The new 802.11n standard supports both frequencies (http://www.brocade.com/downloads/docum).

Required Equipment for Wi-Fi

For each device that participates in a wireless network, the organization will need a wireless network adapter, also called a wireless network card. All modern laptops and some desktop computers, smart phones and PDA are equipped with a built-in wireless network adapter. However, in many cases, to create a wireless network adapter must be purchased separately.

Popular network adapters for laptops are form-factor PC Card (PCMCIA), respectively, for desktop computers, there are models with PCI, USB-wireless adapter can connect to both portable and desktop systems, and there are adapters for PDA interfaces SompactFlash and SDIO (http://www.brocade.com/downloads/docum).

In some cases, to create a small wireless network of two devices is enough to have the necessary ...
