IT Model and Project Life Cycle

Introduction

Most of the IT based organization follow one of the three basic organizational models which can either be centralized, decentralized or even federated IT structure. On the other hand, before incorporation of these models the organization must have to know the potential strengths as well as weaknesses of an organization. In this lieu, the task of project managers along with project team become quite crucial which is to carry out the information technology structuring within the organization so that the project objectives are easily met. Like any project, IT project cycle comprises of the following four phases. These steps include the steps of initiation, planning, execution as well as completion. Based on the various characteristics, the IT operating models can be divided as;

The SDLC steps provide an insight of various functional systems along with the developmental activities which are necessary to gain control over that various complexities of system developments. Moreover, it makes sure that the need of customers as well as the users are fulfilled as per their requirements. Following are the core phases which are usually implemented under the umbrella of SDLC.

Project Definition

The project definition phase aims at attainment of information from various authorities; like, AHA and CAO so as to pinpoint the investment which is required for subsequent funding along with personnel resource allocation. Moreover, the project definition phase must have to identify the needs of customers with various operating constraints. Also, the project definition must have to address the scrutinization process of numerous alternatives with the critical risk analysis. This will also provide an in-depth view on the high-level cost-benefit analysis to get favorable return on investment. Hence, at this very stage the project manager must take into account the cost incurred for training and/or sustaining various efforts.

User Requirement Definition
