The traditional approach to strategic management of information technology (TI) has been the strategy, processes, roles and IT skills, which should be aligned with the corresponding elements of the business. This approach assumes that when the alignment of business strategy and IT strategy takes place, then the organization will be in an ideal position to achieve best results. However, there are doubts over such management of the IT on several occasions because it recognizes neither that a complete alignment cannot be counterproductive, nor that the alignment is an unstable state by the same business dynamics and technology. In particular, the traditional approach that IT should "align the business" by the assumption that both are a separate function within the organization. The alignment is only a partial remedy and is inherently unstable, so the solution of this issue should be "full integration" of IT in business (Bergeron, 1999). IT has become a portfolio of assets, which develops integration with other resources of the organization to create value.
