Theory: The theory discussed in this study is about IT values. This article is about IT values. In the article, a complete evaluation was carried out on articles of IT value in the ACM Communications, Journal of Management Information Systems, Information Systems Research, and MIS Quarterly during 1993 and 1998.

Methodology: In the studies of rr value, the choice of measures and research methods was mutually dependent. All the sixteen studies with analysis of secondary data relied completely only on quantitative measures.

Hypothesis: There was no hypothesis in the study.

Research design: Research design of the study was quantitative. The published measures of IT-value throughout this time were analyzed, classified, reported, and documented. The analysis of these journal articles showed a schism amid the utilization of measures at the level of organization and other measures (Chan, 2000). ACM Communications and I.S Research gave strong proof of a schism amid the utilization of qualitative and quantitative measures as well in the research of IT-value.

Sampling: Sampling of articles on IT values was taken to study, and sample size was 16 articles. Analysis: The objectives of Chan's research were to study a potential trend in “IT value measurement” (i.e., the records of benefits given by IT investments) for examining only organization level, hard, value measures. This trend can be short-sighted however might be a direct outcome of the quantity of press which has been provided to the evident paradox of IT productivity. Though, a lot of the literature on organizational development pressurizes the significance of the function of human resource (e.g., networks, teams, and individuals), which utilizes processes of business, with the integration of technology, for achieving goals of the organization. The literature on MIS underlines the technology value as well in the intellectual capital/human management (e.g., group and individual knowledge). It seems that soft and hard determinants, and individual, group, and organizational-level measures, all are capable of informing the ITT value discussion.

Therefore, this study has mainly focuses on the weaknesses of research stream of “hard” ITT value instead of their strengths. Definitely, there're lots of restrictions of subjective or soft measures (for critical analysis of the construct of user satisfaction, for instance, and raised questions about weak associations between performance of job and satisfaction of job) (Chan, 2000). The study doesn't describe restricted return to the utilization of group, individual, and soft-level measures or measures focused to process but in spite of reminding us of the significance of these determinants and studies their use in current researches of IT value.

Conclusion: In conclusion, where the majority of the present research of IT value as addressing the question of “what value do IT investments provide?” Chan's study might not still be sufficiently dealing with the related questions set, “to whom, how, when, where, and why do these IT investments offer value?” These queries in turn might need an assessment of a range of quantitative and qualitative measures, and the utilization of organizational, group, and individual level measures. Rich and meaningful value documentation of IT investments might eventually need us to integrate the “soft” and “hard” camps, and the “low” and “high” camps, and to link the great division (Chan, 2000).
