Preventing Islamophobia from Creeping Into the Workplace

To prevent Islamophobia from creeping into workplace, it is essential that some of the legal perspectives in the issues must also be highlighted. Most often, Muslims clients in workplaces face discrimination issues. They might get offensive sarcasms regarding praying during the work time and their dress up issues. Often the situation gets worst when decision makers make such offensive remarks. Therefore the issue must be handled from the root cause. On managerial layer, decision makers must be taught to advocate equality in workplace among Muslim employees. If decision makers will take actions regarding preventing the discrimination the employees will automatically hold themselves back before commenting anything offensive. Employers should first be taught to respect the cultural diversity through different means. Institution of an effectual legal agenda to combat all kinds of indirect and direct prejudices, on any bases, and establishment of a body in workplaces to keep an eye on the implementation and content of anti discrimination activities will be helpful in this regards. The body must also be responsible for counseling with the decision making and administrative authorities regarding providing assistance to the victims and sorting out discrimination related issues within the workplace.

The legal dimension of discrimination must be communicated to all the employees. Under the legal system of Europe any employee facing discrimination on racial, ethnical and religious grounds has the right for the law suit.

Fear of something is usually associated with lack of knowledge regarding something therefore to prevent the discrimination it is essential to first clear the wrong and presumed perceptions regarding Islam being a religion advocating terrorism must be cleared.
