Is Wikipedia a blessing or curse?

Wikipedia is considered a Web page that performs the primary function of open access encyclopaedia and can be found in several languages. This is a non-profit organization owned by the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikipedia itself defines itself as a free, multilingual encyclopaedia.

The name Wiki comes from the Hawaiian language which means "quick". The first wiki was created by Ward Cunningham in 1995. These pages can easily be edited by any one. They are free for public collaboration spaces without computer experts or knowledge of tools for making web pages. Everyone can collaborate on a single work keeping track of the changes, allowing return to a previous version.

Wikipedia enables the achievement of objectives that are qualitatively richer in content and accuracy ensuring quality in ideas and solutions proposed. Wikipedia is a blessing specifically for the students and almost everyone as it favors the teaching-learning process allowing students to acquire skills such as: sharing knowledge and experiences, teamwork for obtaining results that are beneficial to themselves and to others, expansion of creative skills, effective collection, organization and analysis of data to produce information that can be transmitted to others (Okoli, 2009). The information on Wikipedia can be multilingual, being able to write in the language preferred by each participant.
