The difficulty in the treatment of eating disorders is to find a balance between compliance with the physical problems that make any kind of attention and concentration impossible. Moreover, it can quickly become life-threatening. The direction of the attention is paid to what lie behind addiction. In poor physical condition, it may become absolutely necessary to have medical treatment or even hospitalization. Forced action should not be taken into account, however, such persons can handle the situation themselves and to impede the time they can possibility and gradually develop their own control. Subsequent to coercive treatment which would therefore help to meet their own feelings and boundaries and permit, another goal of therapy should be to accept the needs of the body (Juarascio, et al., 2010).
A treatment that focuses only on the physical symptoms of those affected people cannot naturally eliminate the addiction itself. Anorexic patients who are artificially fed in a hospital have thus far not changed their eating habits and they suffer after discharge often prompt relapses. As a complement to other measures, psychotherapies help medications that can dampen cravings attacks and depression, which often accompanying symptoms of eating disorders (Fitch & Marshall, 2011).
The symptoms of eating disorders such as bulimia addiction, anorexia and binge eating are quiet famous. However the information regarding appropriate treatments that are really helpful is very little. The number of sufferers from eating disorders is very large, there are mostly young women which make 95% of the total sufferers and this disorder is increasing and therefore the need for an effective treatment size is very high. In eating disorders body and psyche are affected, therefore a close link between medical and psychotherapeutic treatment is called for. In selecting the method of psychotherapy the method addresses the body and mind equally.
Psychodrama is a creative action-oriented method, which is used in the group for single or couples. Central assumption is that the symptom-based creativity blocked all relationships and the roles of psychiatrists that is a great limitation. For this reason, many young women with eating disorders only reduced their sick role and these women are socially isolated. The inner drama of the painful scenes on food and hunger cannot be captured in words alone. These women are unable to taste the life (Scott, 2000).
The unconscious message of the symptom regarding mental images, scenes, schedules and working with symbols, will be deciphered and understood. Since the symptom is always lived out what otherwise may be experienced and the severity of physical effects is indication of the severity of the psychological conflicts.
