Is killing simply immoral or a sin?

Introduction

Morality is something which is closely related to universal law, and as such it is obligatory on every individual to obey. Since universal law comes from God Almighty, we must obey His judgments. If someone does not believe in God, then morality is merely a tradition and nothing more. If one speaks about morality and out rightly rejects the existence of God, then it must be said that it is a big contradiction on his/her part, maybe even hypocrisy.

Killing of innocent people is by all accounts a despicable, outrageous act whereby the life of a living thing is taken. Moreover, killing is an abominable and reprehensible act which should be condemned in all its forms and manifestations. Killing is and should not be tolerated at any cost, since it is the worst level to which a human may fall. Killing can be of many types though; taking the life of an innocent human being is the ultimate wrong that an individual could do and would have to pay for it in this life as well as in the life hereafter. In almost every religion, unjust killing is strongly condemned and is considered to be a despicable, barbaric act. No religion allows the deprivation of life of a human being for example, and usually has punishments in place to deal with such practices. God is Just, and He does not call for killing His creation; thus all the religions and religious texts and scriptures speak out loudly against killing of God's creation. Killing of innocent human beings by far is the ultimate and the gravest sin a person may commit in this life, according to most religious texts and since all religions are peaceful in nature and propose non-violence, killing, particularly murder is considered to be the cardinal sin.
