Is Apathy A Problem In Politics Today?

Introduction

This essay will discuss that apathy is a problem in politics today. It's true that a political apathy is our greatest problem today. We must recognize that the problem of political apathy is a widespread problem affecting the population. Political apathy is a state of indifference, passivity, lack of interest towards politics. It is accompanied by a low responsiveness to political stimuli and a low level of political information. This phenomenon occurs in both democratic and authoritarian societies, although in both (though different) promoters are mechanisms of political participation. In its formation, it may affect the poor visibility and difficult to access the political system and some features of political culture. Socially widespread political apathy increases the margin of manoeuvre, the discretion, the ruling classes, except when the achievement of the proposed goals requires a high level of social mobilization (Reeher, 2002).

Conservatives believe that this indifference is quite scary, because it reflects the political indifference. Currently, the political tradition is not part of the youth culture due to the mistrust felt by the lack of commitment of politicians who represent them. This distrust stems from a story that is full of marks of treason, corruption, absent democracy, moulded laws to benefit a minority (Rich, 1990).
