Executive Summary

The paper examined financial investment opportunities by observing the performance of HSBC as an investment opportunity. In order to find answer to the given scenario, the paper designed three portfolios for three different people with varied risk tolerance capabilities. In order to select a suitable financial advisor, the paper evaluated different functions of a financial advisor and aspects that may help to select the best financial advisor. In the light of FOS/FSA, the paper discussed different rights and protection provided to an investor. In addition to this, the paper explained main content of financial pages provided in the financial times. The paper evaluated key stock exchange ratios by observing and analyzing the market performance of Morrison Plc. Moreover, the paper evaluated different types of collective investments with a brief explanation of each identified type.

Introduction

The paper aims to explore the concept of financial investment opportunities. The paper divides content into two main tasks including task 3 and task 4 in order to inspect answers to given scenarios. The Task 3 provides formal report on HSBS, as an investment opportunity. The task designs three different portfolios for three different types of people with their tolerance capacity and analyzes the situation with the help of a chart. In addition to this, the paper provides information on different functions of financial advisors in order to assist the selection of a suitable financial advisor. Moreover, the paper sheds light on different rights and protection of investor and the key role played by FOS/FSA in guiding investors.

The section of task 4 evaluates financial times, in order to provide information on the main financial content pages. Then, the paper identifies importance of different stock exchange ratios by calculating and analyzing stock exchange ratios for Morrison Plc. Additionally, the paper conducts evaluation of different types of collective investments. Finally, the paper draws conclusion on the overall understanding of the subject matter.

Discussion

Over the past fifty years, the concept of financial investment has been evolving around with the changing nature of investors and ever changing market conditions. The term 'financial investment' has been defined as money committed to buy a particular financial instrument in order to earn profitable returns (Investment UK, 2010, p. n.d.). Financial investors can either be individuals, group of individuals or institutions, who invest their money and capital resources in a specific financial instrument with an objective to earn desired or expected returns (Investment UK, 2010, p. n.d.).
