A manager or supervisor of a company's main tasks, that they perform on a daily basis are to plan projects, to organize the execution of them, encourage, motivate and direct employees, assign jobs, solve problems, take control of situations and make decisions in a way that the organizational goals are met in different cultural and governmental settings.
They are the closest to the employees in the hierarchy of the organization, and are required to mould the employees working under them to adopt the processes, techniques and behaviors that are associated with a certain project or initiative that has been undertaken to affects the outcome of the projects. The most important role part of a manager's job description is solving problems and making important decisions. For some managers this is one of the most difficult and challenging task to go through with. To take the most effective decisions that will be beneficial to the company in the short and long term a manager needs to identify and define a problem. In order to take a successful decision, they need to ask themselves and others if it is required, who, what, when, where, how and why type of questions (McBride, S. 2012).
A manager needs to understand the problem and react accordingly. In some cases more important than the quickness of a decision is to understand the factors involved and solve the problem identifying a long term solution. A balance needs to be maintained.
