Discussion

St. Augustine is the oldest European settlement that has survived in continuous use in the United States of America. It was for this area where Ponce de León in 1513 gave the name of Florida to the coast of the United States. However, it was not until September 8, 1565 was named and established the colony. Hurricanes and pirates often put the town in serious trouble, but persisted and this, with the name of St. Augustine is shining city in the state of Florida.

The city is a tourist attraction for the rich amount of Spanish colonial-style buildings. St. Augustine is like a half hour drive north of Daytona on the Atlantic coast. Actually this journey between two cities is very interesting and attractive (www.oldcity.com). For a good length the road runs parallel to the coast and although it looks much the ocean, hills that have been made to protect against storm surges from time to time are beautiful panoramas. (Kapitzke, R pp. 219)

Visitors to St. Augustine may explore its history by visiting one of its museums depicting the way of life of early Spanish colonists, or they can get pleasure from the feel of history by walking into the narrow old world streets. If the history of the city is not a center of attraction to the visitors, still they value the rich tradition that makes St. Augustine, an exclusive getaway. There is hardly a weekend that goes by when there is not anything going on in the city. Possibly there is a free concert in the Plaza or an arts and crafts festival with lots of things and good food.

Sometimes, it may be a repair of 16th century fight on the city's thin streets or a surfing challenge on some of the best impression in Florida. Whatever the event, it is sure to be more fun in St. Augustine for the visitors coming with or without family. At the heart of St. Augustine is where visitors find a wealth of attractions both historical and fun.

There are several museums, good St. Augustine and of itself is a museum, is the Zorayda Castle, the Castillo de San Marcos, the park's Fountain of Youth, where for a yes or a no we have drunk its waters, the Crocodile Farm and several other places for sure will not be bored. If necessary, not far are the beaches and the cities of Jacksonville (north) and Daytona (south) and countless other attractions along the coast (www.cin.org).
