Introduction

I have chosen the medical field after getting inspired by a famous doctor known as Dr. Phil. He was the person who helped me choose my field and gave various scope and advantages of becoming a good doctor. This paper will discuss the importance of being a doctor and adopting medical as a profession for life. Although the word "doctor" means a professional who treats diseases and cares about people in general, a career in medicine offers a wide range of options. Physicians may become specialists, providing children or treat heart problems, for example. They can be a psychiatric or may specialize in dealing with emergency cases. In addition, doctors also can learn these special skills, practicing him. Doctors may also conduct research in their field of choice and make a new discovery or invention for the treatment of disease. Few careers offer such a range of options to choose from. A doctor is a professional who practices medicine and trying to maintain and restore human health through the study, diagnosis and treatment of illness or injury to the patient. In the words of Erik Cassel: "The physician heals few times, some relief, but always comforting." In the Spanish language so colloquial, is also called doctor to these professionals, but have not obtained a doctorate degree (David, pp. 604).

The doctor is a highly qualified professional in health, which is usually able to give accurate and quick answers to health problems, usually through decisions in conditions of great uncertainty, and that requires ongoing training throughout their working lives. Medicine serves human beings holistically and in this sense speaks the World Health Organization , when defines health as not only the absence of disease , but as the harmonious functioning of man as a bio psychosocial entity, and the status of an individual's adaptation to the environment where it is.

Discussion

Professionalism is the basis of the contract between medicine and society. It demands put the interests of patients before the physician, setting and maintaining high standards of competence and integrity and to provide expert advice to society on health issues. The principles and responsibilities of medical professionalism must be clearly understood by the profession and society. At the heart of this contract is public trust in physicians, which depends on the integrity of both doctor and each of all of the profession.
