Introduction

Two interviews of individuals with practicing professionals in the field of law enforcement have been conducted which reveal various facts. These interviews were conducted on the telephone with individuals from municipal police agencies.

Ethics and character are extremely important in the field of law enforcement and there are many roles that individuals get. The role of the police supervisor is to supervise the people working under him and to manage his team. This is the first stage of promotion that a police officer gets which is followed by police management and executive. For police Management, the police officer has to manage the entire police and to ensure that everything is going smoothly. Moreover, it also has to be ensured that the police is ensuring that rules are being followed and implemented. With regards to Police Executive, it is the highest rank and at this stage, the police executive has to formulate strategies to manage the police system of the country.

Police plays a very crucial role in ensuring that peace and order is maintained in the country. Moreover, they save lives of the people, help those in need and try their best to minimize and stop criminal activities. This is the reason why ethics and character are extremely important in the field of law enforcement. However, the job of a police officer is very stressful and this is the reason why they have to undergo many incidents which may be traumatic. Therefore, they need to ensure that they have fit physical and mental health. Corruption is an illegal act that occurs when a person abuses his power to turn a profit for themselves, their families or their friends. It requires the participation of two actors,, one for his position of power can offer something valuable and one that is willing to pay a "bite" or bribe to get it. Finally, corruption breaks the social fabric as it decreases confidence in the institutions, government and among themselves. It also affects the ethical standards of society as a whole. To the extent that corruption is widespread, ethical scruples are lost. Leadership is differentiated from moral leadership in a way that moral leadership helps the individuals differentiate right from wrong while leadership is simply about leading and influencing the people around us (Bennis & Rhode, 2006). It is extremely essential for every individual to practice ethics and to ensure that laws that have been formulated are being followed well. When law is being made, there are some ethical implications that need to be followed, and therefore, it is the duty of the employees and the officers to follow them. However, there are some issues that might occur with regards to commercial law enforcement. Leadership influences the other people and encourages them to behave in a particular way.
