Introduction

Intersectionality is a feminist theory first highlighted by Kimberle Crenshaw, in which an attempts were made identify the multiple factors that structure our experiences of cruelty. In addition, it is a way of considering the components that together make our identities such as gender, race and ethnicity, class, status in society, physical abilities, civil status, and how these different oppressions interact in women's lives. In this regard, the reading materials in the textbooks are full of references to intersectionality.

Discussion

Starting the discussion about how women showed in the movement that was later named as the feminist movement and the increasing dissimilarity between women's interests, affluent middle class white women, and bourgeois took over feminism for their own interests. The wealthy class of white feminists had raised point to fight for the issue such as; reproduction, abortion, and contraception while encouraging the idea of “own choice”. However, they completely ignored the mainstream force sterilization of colored, poor, and disabled women. In this connection, the example of Margaret Sanger may be quoted, she was the founder of Planned Parenthood, supported the sterilization of the unfit as a means of promoting birth control for racial betterment. A majority of the Native population was forced to be sterilized as they were seen as “unfit” due to their race, and state of poverty (Sally, April & Katherine, 2009). Furthermore, the different forms of oppression continued to coincide through the tight knit relationship between capitalism, imperialism, and racism, as privileged white feminists fought for rights to skilled jobs, and immigrant women were being overworked quite often in offensivethe working environmentt, replacing the women from “well-born” backgrounds with immigrants who were becoming the proletariat of the nation.
