The given research papers study is designed to observe and point out those particular factors that can be use to predict the Psychological well being of old age citizens of in Assisted living Communities. Effects of functional impairment and their social support are also investigated. Core purpose of this study is based on the intention to help social workers to extend their care and support in every aspect by recognizing those factors that can be helpful to understand psychological condition of citizens of ALFs
The Sample
For this study sample is obtained from huge town side of southeastern US. Specifically those residents were targeted that were living in medium sized and corporately owned assisted living communities. Those who were living in Alzheimer's division and those recognized as cognitively impaired were eliminated from the study sample.
The Data Collection Method and Measurements
After Elimination of residents of Alzheimer's wing and some impaired residents having communication problems. A total of 67 peoples were given a questionnaire out of them 57 peoples were able to fill their questionnaire completely. Two questionnaires were given to selected residents to measure their depression and life satisfaction. To obtain the score of depression symptoms in residents of ALFs a modified version by Center for Epidemiological study is used whereas life satisfaction is based on Life Satisfaction Scale Z. Health status of both functional and impairment division of residents is also measured. Functional Health is measured to find out those ADLs and IADLS for which residents require help. Overall health is measured through the rating of overall physical health during past six months. Demographic information of residents was collected through face to face interviews. Once whole data was collected they used bivariate analysis to obtain correlation among variables and then regression analysis is applied on those variables that appeared significant in bivariate analysis.
Bivariate Technique and Its Results
Bivariate Analyses
To obtain and analyze the significant relation between independent variables and dependent variables of psychological well being, Social support, Health and Demographic variables Pearson's correlation coefficients were computed by using simple multivariate analysis. Since researcher has to compute and check relation between multiple variable therefore multivariate analysis is used. Multivariate analysis is a special case of bivariate analysis to analyze significant relations between multiple variables at a time (Cummings, 2002). Results of bivariate analysis are
