Introduction

Interpersonal communication involves all the aspects that are involved in communicating with others. It involves one to one person communications or the certain individual's interactions with one another in the society.

While interacting with other, we cannot interact with them just verbally or just by words. The communication in the interpersonal skills is not only to communicate the message. It involves all the elements by which the message is effectively communicated and the message is effectively understood by the message receiver. So we do not only communicate with words, we do also communicate with our voice tones, we communicate through our gestures, expressions of the face, postures, etc. and some time through the attention that we gives while listening to other. This also is an important part of communication (Hargie, 1994). These are the important and basic mediums by which we are constantly using to communicate with others in our surroundings by sending and receiving the communication messages.

It is the matter of fact that people cannot read our mind and they are not the mind readers. They perceive our thoughts whatever they are given to perceive through our voice, gestures etc. People tend to judge each other by the way they behave each other not through the intensions of each other (Stubbe, 2010).

Looking at the critical and importance of interpersonal skills, we can say that interpersonal skills have some basic principles and these principles includes that miscommunication through interpersonal skills are irreversible, inescapable and they are very complicated and contextual in nature. Interpersonal communication can be carried out by using the direct and indirect means of communication for example confronting each other interaction. The successful interpersonal communication believes that both of the message senders and the message receivers will take to mean and recognize the messages being sent on a level of unspoken meanings and inferences.

The four basic steps for the assurance of effective Interpersonal communication involve the message sender and the receiver to have focus on the message that are sent and received. They are required to get the listeners attention and to not allow the outside destructions to destroy the attention on the message. They both require listening to the message actively.

Discussion

Communication is a two way process. Many situations arise when people tend to make assumptions on themselves and draw the conclusions on their own based on what they perceived and feel about the situation. Sometimes the wrongly perceived situation can cause into the miscommunication that leads the people to serious problems and they usually fail in what they do. Many of the miscommunications arise because of the differences in the genders, cultural differences, or because of the differences in the age or in the education levels. Most of the critical saturations are aroused in the workplaces.
