Internship Report - Union Hospital

Introduction

The road to the labor market is becoming more complex because of the economic and the competitiveness of enterprises, the transformation of professional profiles and constant adaptation to do versus the market organizations and the industry itself which they belong. On the one hand, organizations are qualified (university students) and thus make social agents for the promotion and professional development at the same time may cause a future job placement in the same organization or another. On the other hand, the students according to their abilities and skills acquired in practice, can be transformed into young professionals and at the same time grow their curriculum (Warren, 117-123).

Internships provide great opportunities for students to enhance their educational experience by combining the theoretical aspect of knowledge with the practical one, to gain experience in order to land their first job and to assist them to find employment upon graduation. In general, students pursue internships not for stipend but for learning. Not only do they gain “real world experience” to supplement the classroom experience yet they become more marketable as a result of experience and the training received during the internship period. In many cases, the internship confirms their choice of majors and career (Koehler, 382-384)

(Koehler, 382-384). The internship often expands their network, and, in many cases, the internship upon graduation becomes their first job.

Internships benefit not only the student but also benefit the university and the firms that hire students. For the university, internships enrich the educational experience and provide practical learning experiences for students. Often when the student returns from an internship, they see the importance of school and are more engaged in the classroom environment. Often they will enrich classroom discussions with practical insights gained during their internships and help others make connections between the classroom and the workplace.
