Search engines craw and list websites in a database that belongs to them. The results presented by search engines are only websites that are present in their own database. For example, Yahoo, Google.

Meta Search Engines search the databases of several search engines at a time and are therefore capable of provides more results. They work on the concept that the internet is too vast for a single search engine to provide a comprehensive result; therefore, they search across various search engines. For Example DogPile.
