Internet predators

Introduction

The Internet is a popular medium of communication for people around the world. The network you can get acquainted with the man, without knowing anything about the identity and intentions of the person. This feature of online communication is used by certain individuals to entice young people to inappropriate or dangerous relationships. People engaged in such activities are called Internet predators. The main targets of online predators are children, especially teenagers. It is in adolescence, children gradually come out from under the parental care and easy to meet new people. Internet predators are trying to gain the trust of these children and to engage with them a relationship (Yan, 42).

Internet predators are trying to attract the attention of their victims, such as children, to establish improper relations. However, their target is not only children. Internet predators can also choose adults for the purpose of financial gain. Internet predators lure their victims, and establish contact through programs call, through instant messaging, e-mail or on the forums. Of all the arsenal of the most commonly used for the purpose of the program call. Often online predator is a member of a group of communication in the program call, using a false name (Wolak, 7). For example, if the program is a call intended for children, internet predator can easily pretend to be a kid to get permission to participate.

Online predators are the following:

They are children on chat rooms, discussion forums, blogs, instant messaging, social email, networking sites, and other websites.

They seduce their targets in their showing attention, affection, kindness and even by giving them gifts.

They know the singers and entertainment to fashion interest to children.

They listen to children's problems and sympathize with them.

They try to release the inhibitions by gradually introducing young people to sexual content in their conversations or by showing them sexually explicit materials.

They can also evaluate the kids they meet online for future face to face contact.

Cases

On Dec. 23, city of Racine computer technicians reported finding pictures of naked girls on Mayor Gary Becker's personal computer, which he had given them for repairs.

On Aug. 5, Viroqua Police Officer Emilee Nottestad went online as a 13-year-old girl. She chatted with Kevin Kreisel, a 29-year chemistry researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

Ashleigh Hall a 17-year-old was raped and murdered by Peter Cham. A 33 year old man who admitted his crime by using the Facebook page to contact her. The criminal used a fake profile for contact with the victim, posing as 18 year old visually appealing. Was cited with the victim on October 25, 2009 (Burt, 45). She had told her mother she was going to stay overnight at the home of some friends. The body was found in a field near Sedgfield, Duhram County, England. The murderer Peter Cham was sentenced to life imprisonment.
