The main areas include England, Wales, Scotland, and north Atlantic islands of Wight, Hebrides and Shetland. The UK is the first nation to witness industrial revolution in early 1990. The great invention of steam engine was done in England and it helped in subsequent industrialization of Britain. After World War II the United Kingdom emerged as a strong and developed economy of the world.

The UK is a permanent and important member of 25 country's European Economic Union. Since1973 UK has played important role in formation of EU legislation, laws. The commission has more than 10000 employees .The EU is a step towards free trade regime within member, one step ahead members have agreement for free flow of factors of production and single European passport. This is one of the largest trading blocs and has moved to much advance stage, the members already have unified their currency and number of membership has grown to 25 recently. As on date no other regional trading organization is nearer to EU and has importance equivalent to it. This is the biggest and so far successful regional trade agreement of the world. The currency Euro is strongest currency in the world recently.

WTO membership: - The UK has membership of WTO since 1995 and also has formal membership of GATT earlier to 1995. UK has played important role in free trade movement across the globe and also laid foundation in resolving trade disputes and mutual co-operations.

OECD: - UK is an eminent member of OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation Development) since 1961.There is 33 members and most of them are developed economies from Europe and North America. The main objective of this forum is to develop economic cooperation and resolve issues related to members. The organization also shares market research, economic studies and other developments. The members are mostly industrialized nations with market economy approach,The UK is also having membership of United Nations Security Council, which shows its strong position in the governance of UN.

UKATA: - This was an trade agreement treaty series between UK and Australian government for free flow of Australian agricultural products like fruits, frozen vegetables, frozen juices, wheat, mustard, dries peas, meat extract sand seeds etc. ,this was initiated 1957 and continue till date and basically was on profit margin preferences extended by Australia.

Within Europe UK have various bilateral trade agreements with France, Ireland and Sweden .The WEC is world economic forum formed by UK, France and Northern Ireland.
