Introduction

This paper intends to discuss Hyundai Motor Company. Global organizations need to work extremely hard in order to achieve and maintain their global competitive advantage. Hyundai Motor Company is one of those companies which wisely manage its global competitive advantage through constantly focusing over the products and services it offers. This paper will discuss the history of the company focusing on products and services it offers. Also, the organization of its international business will be thoroughly discussed. The international expansion of the company will be analyzed in order to assess in which countries Hyundai Motor Company seemed to be interested in making investments. Lastly, the long term development of revenues, costs and profits in relation with foreign exchange risk will be explored. The purpose of this paper remains to make the readers aware about the significance of achieving and maintain the global competitive advantage through providing examples from a big company like Hyundai Motor Company.

History of Hyundai Motor Company

In order to become successful with the business operations; Hyundai Motor Company has always been focusing towards its products and services it offers. The Hyundai Motor Company has its headquarters in Seoul; South Korea. Hyundai Motor Company was founded in 1967. Within a span of few decades; Hyundai Motor Company has achieved the reputation of becoming world's fourth largest car maker in accordance with the annual sales of vehicles. This achievement was only possible because of the fact that Hyundai Motor Company produced and offered some of the most stylish, modern and automated vehicles. Also, the quality of vehicles produced by Hyundai Motor Company is essentially exceptional (LLC, 2011 Pp. 10-14).

The history of Hyundai Motor Company can be traced back to 1967. However, the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company were working since 1947. The first model of Hyundai Motor Company was 'Cortina.' This was released in partnership with Ford Motor Company. After the underlying success of the first model; Hyundai Motor Company intended to launch its very own car without any cooperation or partnership of any big name of the vehicles industry. After a lot of underlying struggle, the first Korean Car was released by Hyundai Motor Company with the name of 'Pony' in 1975. The car was styled by Italian Designer and technology was provided by Mitsubishi Motors of Japan (Lansbury et al 2007 Pp. 100-107).

The first Korean car of Hyundai Motor Company was extremely successful that it attracted exports. The cars were exported to Ecuador and Benelux Countries within a time span of one year. By the year 1984, Hyundai Motor Company became successful in exporting 'Pony' to Canada. This was the first huge success of the company. The fact also reveals that the history of Hyundai Motor Company revolves around determination and well planned strategies to achieve global presence.
