Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant information relating to analysis of International Financial Markets. The two countires we have selected for our purpose is Chile and Malaysia.

Discussion

As company company aims to expand itself in new direction, company is going to make adequte investments for its new manufacturing plant in either Chile or Malaysia.

Comparative Analysis

Malaysia

Malaysia is populated with more than 22.2 million people and there are 58% people who are native Malays. Malaysia is also the dwelling for the sizeable number of Chinese and Indian minorities. Since the year 1988, the country has successfully maintained 8% GDP growth. In the mid-range for East Asia, the GDP per capita was $10,300 in 2000. It is smaller than those of some of the “Asian Tigers” (Brakman, 2006). In the recent years, the Asian Financial Crisis had severely affected Malaysia along with all other countries, though it has since recovered fully. Due to the low external debt, the country has been able to avoid chief hardship with the help of its well-developed regulatory framework, strong financial position in the economy, and conventionally lower inflation. Information technology (IT) in Malaysia provides the potential for organizations to reduce costs, enter new markets, develop innovative products and services, transform work processes, and alter the means by which they compete. However, the extent to which firms achieve these capabilities varies. A major factor contributing to the disparity among firms' abilities to successfully achieve the potential advantages provided by information technology are their managements' competencies in effectively leveraging their IT resources (David, 2009).

In this knowledge economy, Malaysia as a developing country, faces new strategies to continuously sustain the sources of competitiveness in order to access market and technology
