This paper intends to discuss the United Nations Climate Change Conference of 2009. The case study has been taken from textbook of Clegg et al with the name of “Strategy: Theory and Practice.” Throughout the case; the significance of taking the climate change seriously was mentioned and the readers were urged to take significant initiatives to cater the problem of climate change positively. I studied the United Kingdom representing the developed countries; China representing the developing countries and Greenpeace representing nonprofit organizations. All three remained important stakeholders at the United Nations Climate Change Conference of 2009. The three questions asked will be answered within this particular paper. The basic purpose of this paper is to make the readers aware about the significance of the seriousness of the participants attending such conferences like United Nations Climate Change Conference of 2009. Further, the goals, objectives and the decision making approaches of all the participants will be studied in this paper. In order to conclude; recommendations and strategies would be suggested to the participants for meeting their strategic objectives in an efficient manner.
The Case Analysis
The case of United Nations Climate Change Conference of 2009 as written by Clegg et al in Strategy: Theory and Practice” is important to analyze from the strategic viewpoint. The strategic perspective of United Nations Climate Change Conference of 2009 is articulated in the case study. In my opinion, the United Nations Climate Change Conference of 2009 revolved around the significance of maintains the environment in the positive manner. The entire case study revolves around the pre summit activities; the actual summit and the post summit reactions. However, I believe the author of the case study did not reflect comprehensively over the strategic aspect of the case of United Nations Climate Change Conference of 2009.
Since the book is related to the creation and exploration of strategies; the case study must also have talked about the United Nations Climate Change Conference of 2009 from the strategic viewpoint. However, I believe the case study focused more over the preparations, conduction and the reaction to the summit; while ignoring the strategic aspects at core. I was asked to study United Kingdom representing the developed countries; China representing the developing countries and Greenpeace representing nonprofit organizations. After analyzing the roles of the developed countries, developing countries and the nonprofit organizations in the maintenance of the environment; I can certainly suggest that in order to create a positive environment and to safeguard the environment, the amalgamation and coordination of all the stakeholders remain extremely important (Landerth, 2009 Pp. 1-2).
