The purpose of the project is to discuss the problems and benefits of security for the WI-FI network (IEEE 802.11) for the home office users as well as for the small business owner. By examining this topic from the perspectives of information technology and management information ststems, I will analyze the viability of safely using a WI-FI network in a home office or small business context.

MIS and IT

The thesis presented in this paper suggests that decision makers in all levels of government lack the technical and managerial skills necessary to manage technology projects. Some research suggests that traditional managers should be involved in technology decision making at appropriate levels, and that when they are, IT project success increases and organizations tend to be better able to react to changes in technology (Feeny, et. al 435; Javenpal and Ives 224; Liedner and McKay 28). Research also suggests that keeping managers out of the IT loop can cause system failure, project failure and, in extreme cases, failure of the organization altogether (Lacity).

"Management information system is essential for creating competitive firms, managing global corporations, and providing useful products and services to customers." (Laudon, 2002,P1) It provides information figure of reports and displays to managers. For demonstration, sales managers may use their computer workstations to get sales outcomes of their goods and to get access to every week sales investigation accounts, and then assess sales made by each salesperson.

"Management data schemes originated in the 1970s to aim on computer-based data schemes directed at managers." (Laudon, 2002, P15). Because of the growths of the Internet, globalisations of trade, and the increase of data finances, have to advance the function of data schemes in enterprise and management.
