Improved from previous International Business Unit Core Alibaba.com July 2012 aims to create the go-to - English language platform for cross-border and shopping, as well as helping small businesses around the world to expand overseas markets. At June 30, 2012, the platform had 29.4 million registered users in over 240 countries and regions and showed storefronts 2500000 suppliers. In this paper, we critically examine two main aspects of IS strategy development and implementation, using ALIBABA.COM to illustrate the arguments and conclusion. The Aspects that we are discussing in this paper are the Organisation of data into information and Ability to Analyse the Information. A computer-based information system (IS) is of vital importance to organizations such as ALIBABA.COM. In deciding how to use IS effectively, ALI BABA.COM need to cope both with major changes in information technology and with the rapid changes in the wider social and economic environment that are endemic to contemporary society (Bloomberg, 2013).
In consequence, IS strategy and its linking to business goals are crucial and continuous aspects of the business strategy for ALIBABA.COM. However, the development of IS strategy is insufficient in itself, since it is also essential to ensure implementation of the resultant information systems. Thus, the development of appropriate IS strategy and its effective implementation should be viewed as interdependent, critical elements of the success ALIBABA.COM.
Information System is certainly of central significance to ALIBABA.COM. Where the range, type, and cost of products offered to customers are critically dependent on the way information technology and the associated information systems developed and implemented.
