Introduction

In the current era, technological advancements have a played a vital role in improving and enhancing the effectiveness of daily routine life. It is because of the reason that, technological advancements have allowed the people to perform their task in a more convenient and efficient way. Recent studies and researches demonstrate that, information systems have played a vital role in the field of business. It is because of the reason that, these information systems have enabled the organizations to gain competitive advantages, by providing them innovative systems and technologies (Pearlson & Saunders, 2004, pp. 10-13).

The purpose of this paper is to explore the role and importance of information systems in any organization or business. Studies demonstrates that, information systems are nothing more than the software and hardware that are used by the organizations, in order to distribute, create, proves, filter and collect data or information. Therefore, these information systems may greatly help the organizations and businesses in enhancing and improving the effectiveness of their business processes. The proceeding paper demonstrates the role of information system in the business process of ZY enterprise. The paper demonstrates that how the information systems enable the organization to gain competitive advantages. In addition to this, the paper also demonstrates the role of information systems by analyzing the performance as well as the competitive environment of an organization, by using Porter's five forces model.
