Introduction

Information systems are designed for the purpose of achieving efficiency and effectiveness in organizations. In this era or technology advancements, many organizations are taking advantage of information systems. The information systems are designed according to the needs and requirements of organization. It depends on how the organization is going to use the system to enhance its operations and functions. Information systems and technology is being used for the purpose of different purposes, which includes recording and storing data and information, analyzing and evaluating information and data, and strategic planning. The organizations use and implement information systems according to their needs and requirements (Stoneburner, Goguen & Feringa, 2002).

Technology has always helped organizations in making their operations and processes efficient. Information technology and systems are being widely used by organizations all over the world. They are being widely used all around the globe by several organizations for several purposes. Installing new technology systems in the organizations require the management to implement new strategies, design IT infrastructure and train their staff accordingly. Changes in the information have a positive impact on the functions and operations of the company. It increases the rate of efficiency of performance and productivity (Miller & Porter, 2001).

This paper focuses on the implementation of new technology systems in PC World and Currys. Both the companies are operating in the UK retail market, and are dealing directly with customers by providing them products according to their needs and requirements. The paper will focus on the changes brought in by the new system and its impact on the people of the company. In UK, new technology systems are being introduced for the purpose of supporting the operations and functions of the company and to enhance the efficiency of employees. The merger of PC World and Curry's is proposed in the paper, which brings several changes in their operations, objectives and needs (March, 2008).

Changes introduced by the New System

This is the era of technology advancements where innovation and creativity is at its peak. With the passage of time, many new systems are introduced in the organizations according to the needs and requirements. Currys is an electronic retailer in UK, which is providing its customers with kitchen appliances, TV and entertainment products, Cameras, PC accessories, and computing devices. Currys is one of the best retailers of UK, which helps customers in getting everything at one place. PC World is one of the largest retail chains of UK dealing in computers. They provide computers and its related tools and accessories to its customers. Currys proposed a merger with PC World for the purpose of merging their activities and operations. This helped the company behind PC world and Currys, which is Dixon's Retail (Miller & Porter, 2001).
