The incorporation of information technologies, including hardware, software and Internet, in health organizations is a common practice. These resources arrived in United State at about the 80's and since then its use is becoming more diversified. The aim of this paper is to analyze and reflect on the introduction and use of information technology in the work of nursing. The use of modern portable systems is available in many hospitals, allowing use of information at any time or place. Nurses are using computers, mainly on the administrative side, in direct patient care and teaching and research. We believe that health professionals and society in general, should consider the computer as a medium that facilitates communication and provides greater efficiency for assistance.

Nursing Informatics

Nursing Informatics is the specialty that integrates nursing science, Computer Science and Information Science for the identification, collection, processing and handling of data and information to support practice Nursing Administration, Education, Research and the expansion of nursing knowledge.

While information technology has made revolutionary changes in many areas and professions, medicine is in our opinion one of the most widely seen to benefit most from advances associated with the technology used as interface for interpretation of the results of this to the information to assess the diagnosis.

Nursing is entering a new stage in their integration to the Internet, develop new processes through the network to deliver a program of patient management by using all the tools that allow interactive programming languages ??on the web, and integrate services nursing, medical services on-line medical services.
