Introduction

Industrial Revolution has been a very important aspect of human history marked by the growth of technological advances. It was a water-shed phase for the international industrial market and every country experienced its influence. However Industrial revolution brought many problems to the front among which child labor was prominent one.

Discussion

During the period of Industrial Revolution kids as young as 4 were working in mines and production factories within dangerous setups and often fatal working conditions. Child labor cropped up due to the requirement of un-skilled and low-cost workforce to perform lengthy hours in order to operate manufacturing machines and perform a repeating singular task in a huge warehouse (Thatcher, 2009). Child labor also surfaced as an issue due to the requirement for someone to access the small locations of coal mines that the majority grownups were not able to squeeze into, owing to the surfacing of coal as a prime source of energy and power for the new innovative machinery and engines developed during industrial revolution it became essential for the coal to be mined out of the small locations, hence children were sent to theses extremely hazardous conditions.

Moreover child labor surfaced partly because the demand of labor in British textiles had exceeded the limited adult labor available. And as British Textiles was expending the demand and supply gap of labors was increasing. Soon it was figured out that just adult available workers will not do any good and hence children were taken s advantageous solution of this problem. Firstly they would work on low wages for long hours and secondly the demand supply gap would be reduced.
