Article #1: Students Should Have the Right to Carry Guns on College Campuses

The writer argues that like the mass murder in April 2007 at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, there have been a number of other incidents where teachers and students failed to defend themselves. He said that mass murders at campuses is a not a phenomenon and several killing sprees go unnoticed. He said it is important that students are given their rights to defend themselves in campuses and for that reason students are also demanding an end to discrimination. He said that the organization called Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC) is gaining popularity after the mass killings at Northern Illinois University. He said students should be given concealed carry education on campus in this regard. But critics say students are responsible that can carry arms with them in campuses and any legislation in this regards will lead to more violence. The writer said since 2007 incident, at least 22 states have considered laws that can allow concealed carry on campus and that universities in Utah, Blue Ridge Community College in Virginia and some campuses in Michigan have allowed guns in their areas and the results so far have been satisfactory.
