Introduction

Society is divided into different social classes. These social classes came into being due to the stratification or division of individuals, groups or cultures on the basis of their economic or political status (Quinn, 2013). The most common social classes that exist in society are lower class, middle class and upper or elite class. However, each of these classes is also divided into sub-categories.

Discussion

In today's world the factor that truly determines a social class is the economical status i.e. how financially strong a person is. I belong to a family which can easily be called middle class. People from this class fall between the working class and the upper class (Lareau and Conley, 2007). My family, like every other middle class family, strives to maintain its status through hard work and attaining education. My family has not always been a middle class family, rather it was considered to be one among the lower one. Due to unfair conditions, my father was not able to attain high school degree and owing to this fact he was not able to get a reputable job. But he had determination of working hard and achieving a decent status among others. My father used to work day and night and with his hard work and my mother's support he became able to provide education to his children i.e. me and my brother.

His struggles enabled me to get education and then a reputable job. This helped us attain status of a middle class family. Owing to this fact, my socialization is quite different from my parents. As they belonged to lower class and spent all their life working hard, their social circle was limited, their exposure was restrained due to lack of education and they were not aware of the world ...
