The academic life of an individual is highly associated with the development of all the essential skills required for the professional, as well as personal life. Numerous researches have been conducted on the domain of education, in contrast to the development of skills in students. The university life is referred to as the last stage before the entrance to the professional life, due to which an individual must highly focus to develop most of these skills at this stage. Considering these aspects, numerous theories, models, and associated frameworks have been introduced by scholars. Moreover, there are practical actions that can assist the students to deal with such factors. This paper is based on the approaches to increase individual, as well as employability skills at university. The information presented in the paper has been enriched with the support by different theories and practical action scenarios. The purpose is to guide the students in developing their sills which lead for the enhanced chances of employability.
Discussion
The development of individual skills in contrast to employment at university can be enhanced by a number of ways. The students can be encouraged for critical thinking, guided for potential decision making, and problem solving skills. Moreover, university is a platform where one can establish strong public relations, leading to the collaboration of various social networks. The students must be provided with a mentor based structure which has the capability to motivate and influence them. Such aspects push the students for the development of their individual skills (Eisenberg, 2010, p. 39). One of the major skills required to sustain a potential skilled personnel is to contain strong communication skills. It is considered to be the basis for all, and at the university level the students must be encouraged to participate in multiple (external) events. This connects them with the outer world, and ads up to their social circle, making them more comfortable to deal with the new scenarios. Regular interaction and active participations further enhances the skills of the students in the university level. A good practice is to take part in the professionally associated programs like seminars, exhibitions, etc. This not only grooms the skills, but assists in developing public relation which is a road to employability (Johnson et. al, 2010, p. 1496). According to the dynamic skill theory, an individual must focus on the development of ultimate, but dynamic skills. The aim must be to cope up with the contemporary dynamics. The theory was presented by Fischer, and as per the theory the optimum level of skills reflects all sorts of patterns. The dynamic development research group has worked on the establishment of models and frameworks that assist people in the development of essential skills. The learning capability of a student emerges from the environment provided. According to this perspective, it is important to understand that settings provide to the students in university (Bidell & Fischer, 2013, ...
