Introduction

According to the Nursing's social policy statement, the practice of nursing involves protection and prevention of illness and injury, optimization of health and injuries, improvement of pain through diagnosis, and provision of support services in caring of the people, communities and populations. This definition is the basis on which the standards and scope of nursing practice are developed (ANA, 2010).

Scope of nursing practice

The scope of the nursing practice explains who, where, what, how, why and when of the practice of nursing. A dynamic and complex picture of nursing along with all the boundaries and barriers can be attained by responding to all of the above questions. The nursing profession has the scope of practice which includes the complete collection of practice of nursing. Total scope of nursing has some breadth and depth which can is based on their experience, education, role and the type of population which is being served (ANA, 2010).

Personal practice

My personal practice portrays the general aspects of the scope of nursing. I am able to handle the barriers that are experienced by a registered nurse. I overcome the difficulties in practice by responding to all the queries accordingly. However, there are some places where I lack because I do not have the complete experience and education that is necessary for a registered nurse.

Standards of nursing practice of Ohio

A registered nurse should implement all the standards of nursing that are presented by the Ohio board of nursing. The steps of nursing practice that are described by the law are cyclical in nature. The actions of the nurse keep on varying according to the condition of the patient. A registered nurse is able to work in partnership along with the family members of the patient and other staff members of the healthcare organization (Law writer, 2013). The standards of nursing practice provided by Ohio board of nursing are given below.

Assessment

The registered nurse should have the ability to collect all the information of the patient perfectly and with proper management of time. Data of the patient should be collected from the family members and other healthcare providers in case of any medical history of the patient. The process of data collection can also be directed by the nurse and all information should be recorded properly after collection (Law writer, 2013).

I collect all the information of a patient from his family members and also gather information from the past prescriptions and diagnostic tests of the patients if they are available. Moreover, I document all the information that I have been collecting and sometimes I feel it difficult to record the information in the electronic health records.

Analysis and reporting

The registered nurse should be able to identify the information and should arrange it properly. The nurse should be able to modify any diagnosis according to the intervention of the disease.
