The increasing population rate in India should be controlled by all possible means while the option of sustainable vision in industrialization and urbanization stays within themselves.

Introduction

The country known to the world as India is the name of an Asian civilization which is very old, but yet a growing nation on modern lines with regards to explanation values and democratic institutions and rising power of the twenty-first century. India is also the world's largest democracy with a huge vivacious society in which a number of civilisations as Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Zoroastrians, Jews and even animists live together. The goal of the country is to transform a developing nation like India, with a heavy population into a developed and more advanced nation and a global leader on the international front by the year 2020. However, in order to achieve that goal, India as a democratic power and nation is in a period of when it is also going through a period of scarcity in terms of recourses and environmental degradation. But, the question is will India be able to achieve all this by the year 2020, with a menace of growing population which is posing even bigger challenges in almost every field. According to the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States, at present the estimated figure of the population of India by July this year is approximately 1,205,073,612. The country also one of the youngest countries of the world as nearly 50 percent of India's total population are people who are under the age of 25 and by the year 2015, there will be estimated population of 550 million teenagers in India. Therefore, long after the populations of the United States, Europe and even China have grown old, India will still be a young nation without any lack of customers and even without any shortages of labour. It is important to note that the industry of information and technology in India and its major role that it has been playing in the world has given the country has developed a lot. Manufacturing industry in India is also flourishing and while it's real financial engine, retail spending, is just starting to warm-up. However, the challenges being faced by one of the most densely populated country in the world are also frightening. A shocking figure reveals that at least 40 percent of the total number of people who are poor in the world is part of the Indian population, which also includes one-third of the world's malnourished children. Apart from that the pace at which the population of India is growing together with financial advancements, is also influencing and degrading the environment through uncontrolled growth in urbanization and industrialization and increase and strengthening of agriculture and at the same time destruction of natural habitats.
