Inclusion in Service

Introduction

The term “Inclusion” refers to the process of including all members in social, educational and economic sector irrespective of the race, gender, cast, ethnicity, culture and other affiliation. It is an opportunity provided to all communities and gender of society to become an effective part of the society. It is an endeavour towards social equality, dignity and impartiality (www.educationscotland.gov.uk).

Inclusion in the organisation is of tremendous benefit to the organisation. The concept of inclusion in service or an organisation can be defined as the workplace where equal opportunities are provided to all without any discrimination of culture, religion, and race etc. Inclusion provides an environment where employee's dignity and self respect remain intact and his merit and abilities are criteria for promotion and progress (Anonymous 2010-a, p. 05).

In service, inclusion is an assured standard to enable an organisation achieve its goals by using its manpower to its fullest. It creates a competent environment for all to work hard and gain progress. Individual progress and professionalism eventually leads to organizational progress. It is noted that a large number of employees in various organisations are suffering the discriminations for reasons that are beyond their control and authorities. For instance, Bisexuality, homosexuality, religion, gender, race, culture are still the issues that are potential challenges for many organisations, which hinder, the process of inclusion and an obstacle towards equality (Ozbilgin 2009, p.195).

Discussion

Before going into depth about the topic of inclusion, first we have to understand the background and concept of inclusion. Inclusion is a social process of including the manpower into service without any discrimination. It is a human communicative process which enables an organisation to utilize its manpower in the best interest of the organisation while their dignity remains intact. An inclusive organisation respects the Human Rights, self respect and honour of employees and gives them equal opportunities to use their abilities. It is a principle of equal fundamental rights and social justice for all (Anonymous 2010-a, p. 07). An inclusive organizational environment welcomes all culture and respects the dignity of their employees.

Unnecessary hierarchy is discouraged. Equal chances of growth and progress are given to all. Each and every level of organisation has to respect the inclusive principle. Everyone is supposed to promote the environment where all employees are comfortable. The management find out potential challenges and organizational stress and try to solve them at the earliest to enable a relaxed, healthy and professional environment (Anonymous 2010-a, p.07).

Benefits of Inclusion in a workplace

There are certain advantages of inclusion for an organisation. Some of them are as follows.

When equal opportunities are provided to everyone without discrimination, than fresh talent is encouraged to come up. Creativity and merit are the criteria of progress and in this way inclusion helps to groom new talented minds for the organisation.

Equality
