Introduction
A number of researches as well as observations have proved that the involvement and participation of parents plays an eminent role in defining the level of activeness and smartness of the students, and the same is also associated with their participation in academic activities. Studies have shown that an increased parental involvement within their children's education is associated with the increase in student achievements (Ballen &Moles 1994). This implies that children learn to develop a lot of skills from their families and this is the most effective way for children to start their education. Parents need to guide their children to do their home work, help them to read and understand their subjects and show them encouragement. Reading at home will help them to progress faster in the classroom.
Previous US research suggests that there are two types of parents living within the community. One is facilitative parents, who help their children and guide them with their education and the other is conservative parents who have the traditional belief that school is fully responsible for their children's education (Weigel D.J et al2006). The difference is not only responsible for the difference in attitude of children towards education but the same also affects their outlook towards life and their general ideas about various aspects of education. Families are children's primary educators, and they play an important role in molding them for a better future. US department of education show that children's achievement in reading and understanding is linked with what sort of material they have access to read in their home.
“Children's parents who participate in a literacy programme improve their grades, test scores and reading skills and they are less likely to drop out of school” (Ballen et al 1994). In 1997 for the first time England's government released a white paper (excellence in school) to involve parents in their kids' ...
