Introduction

There have been various eras in the history of art that not enjoyed appreciation and acknowledgement in their respective periods. In fact, the masterpieces of those eras still succeed to inspire many art fans throughout. Moreover, the patterns adapted by the artists of these eras are also highlighted in the artworks of many modern-day amateur or experienced artists. One of such most influencing acknowledged and still respected form of art is known as Impressionism. This style of art enjoyed a central position in various disciplines in its peak and many artists throughout changed their styles in order to adapt and explore the new dynamics and variations in art that Impressionism had to offer (Herbert, 1997).

Impressionism and its Origin

It will be fair to say that Impressionism is the one of the first distinct movement in the areas of modern art and painting. Originated in the land of Paris in the years of 1860s, the influence of this genre of art spread far and wide in Europe and then eventually in United States. The genre originated as a result of the anti-government campaigns by various artists who rejected the government-sectioned salons or exhibitions and therefore were ultimately turned by many powerful and influential at institutions of that era (Willsdon, 2004).

The basic manner through which Impressionism differed from the traditional painting patterns of those times was its turning away from the fine details and finish by which were inspired by majority of the artists in those times.

The founder of this extra ordinary genre of art is known as Claude Monet.
