Importance of Research in Alternative Medicine in Heart and Lung Care

Abstract

The use of alternative medicine over the past few decades has witnessed an immense rise. It is therefore both imperative and necessary to promote research on credible grounds by established biomedical community in the realm of heart and lung care. This research paper aims to focus on the importance of exchange of essential skills and information between medical experts and scientists pertaining to cardiovascular and lung research and alternative medicine practitioners and students. Emphasis on establishing a relation between sleep disturbances among women before MI (myocardial infarction) and the role of primary clinical care in the same is also highlighted.

Discussion

Untested alternative medicine is currently being used by more than 40% of the public in the US. The role of alternative medicine in vascular function in peripheral artery diseases and acupuncture in dealing with cardiovascular disorders is dominant. Also, while dealing with cases which pertain to rehabilitation after cardiac surgery, alternative and complementary medicine maybe used to achieve effective results.

Lung Care

It is worth highlighting here the important role of ginseng in dealing with cases pertaining to lung injury. Research has indicated a positive effect in such patients owing to the presence of free radicals. The need however, is to further refine this area of medicine to reach a conclusion that is far more viable. Ginseng and its active ingredients such as ginsenosides are widely used in lung care because they have been proven to promote vasodilatation. In addition, further lung health is improved as the herb helps in enhanced biosynthesis of nitric oxide which is essential for the endothelial lung lining (Goldstein, 2012).
