ABSTRACT
The study is to determine the impact and effectiveness of the Performance Management System in Gunniess Nigeria plc. Performance management can be defined as a concept, which includes activities which ensure that goals are met in an effective and efficient manner.Performance management contributes to the development of individuals and organization through collaboration and constant adjustment in achieving objectives.Gunniess Nigeria plc was incorporated in April of 1950 as a trading company importing Gunniess Stout from Dublin. A mixed method approach is the most appropriate for this study. The researcher will carry out research in an ideal manner and it is expected that the data gathered for the purpose be of high quality. To initiate the performance management process for the Guinness Nigeria Plc, the Human Resource department conducted an assessment of all staff and key consumers to identify specific areas and issues that needed improvement. The process to develop a performance management system at the Guinness Nigeria Plc was initiated to identify common goals, recommendations for improvements in level of operating, common values and beliefs and all levels of the organization. The present paper inspects only one characteristic of PMS as motivation. Other characteristics of PMS can be examined by future research.
