Abstract

In a team, the achievement of goals and performance depends on the team members. Every team member depends on the other team members and together they find solutions to problems. Teams are formed for different purposes, and it is the responsibility of the team members to play their role effectively and efficiently. This report focuses on the impact of teamwork on achieving a task. It also presents the factors that have an impact on the performance and productivity of the team. There are different views on the team and teamwork; the research will focus on the views, advantages and disadvantages of the team and teamwork.

Introduction

Teamwork refers to a group of individual working together to achieve certain desired and planned goals. Teams are formed for different purposes and reason in various organization. A team consists of two or more people working together to achieve similar goals and objectives. Every individual working in a team is responsible for the team performance and productivity. They have to participate and give in their best to achieve the desired productivity, outcome and performance. The success of the team depends on the skills, knowledge, abilities and expertise of the team members (Ulloua and Adams, 2004, pp. 145-151).

In the past, many researchers have presented their ideas on teamwork and efficiency of employees working in teams. They present the impact of teamwork on the overall organization's performance and productivity. This paper focuses on the impact of teamwork on achieving a task. Comparing the performance of individuals and teams it can be seen that teams perform well. The study presents the ideas and views of various researchers by analyzing their literature and research work. This study will focus on students gaining advantage of teamwork in education institute. It will emphasize on how teamwork is allowing students to develop value and good relationships with each other.

Objectives of the Research

This research has three objectives, and these objectives are:

To measure how various team members perceive teamwork and their thoughts in the realisation of a successful task through teamwork.

To assess the advantages and disadvantages of teamwork in achieving a task.

To identify the major challenges that may be faced by members of a team.

Literature Review

Different researchers have different views on teamwork; some promote the concept of teamwork while some are against the concept of teamwork (West, 2012). It depends on the advantages and disadvantages of teamwork visualized and analyzed by the researchers. Many researchers believe that teamwork can help organizations in achieving goals and gaining success and development (Ulloua and Adams, 2004, pp. 145-151). While there are some researchers who believe that teamwork reduces the individual efforts and has a negative impact on the performance and productivity of organizations.
