Abstract

The concept of Information Warfare is mainly concerned with the concept of using information that is considered to be a weapon in the presence of target as well. The aim of the information warfare is to deny, corrupt, exploit and degrade the information itself along with the processes and information system. This activity affects the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the information and its related supporting system. The discipline of information warfare is extensive however the computer network warfare and the electronic warfare are particularly relevant. Extensive researches have been carried out in the past with respect to the link between information warfare and increased usage of mobile devices. The researchers have provided an overview of the requirements for such a database to be feasibly implemented and the benefits such a database would provide for future research. The author begins by covering the various databases which exist to track and monitor online disturbances, previous research involving collaborative intrusion detection systems, and the lack of data available regarding the sheer volume of cyber attacks traversing the internet.

Introduction

The increase in the risk of information warfare due to increase in the usage of the mobile devices such as laptops, tablets and mobile smart phones have been prevailing in the world for long time now. The future of the information warfare needs to be in safe hands so that the mobile devices that are causing increased information warfare could be used in an appropriate manner without affecting the industry of the warfare. It has been observed in the past few years that the two important incidents regarding the security have been affecting the industry of the mobile phones. These include the Vodacom SMS Banking fraud and the introduction of how to guide the cracking of A5/1 stream cipher network that has been used for the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). These incidents have therefore called for the security of the mobile phones. With the increased usage of the mobile phones, there is a great opportunity of the utilization of these infrastructures in the information Warfare. In fact, some of the mobile infrastructures have also been highlighted in the information warfare that makes them less reliable for use.
