The typical vitiligo is easy to diagnose, the patches taking off by halves, the damage of cloudy edge during the early period must differentiate with other disease such as birthmark (Lerner & Nordlund, 1978, pp.1183-1186). It is a brand of skin present at birth. Birthmarks include brown spots with milk, moles, and mongolian spots. The birthmarks can also be red. Birthmarks are alternatively called as congenital nevus, lunar, nevus sebaceous, brown spots with milk, nevi and Nevo follicle. There are two kinds of birthmarks that are as under:
Anemic birthmark: It is a kind of the congenital spot to lose color, which exists from the very moment of birth, because the thin blood vessel of the spot is less than the normal skin, while rubbing the affected part the surroundings skin congest but the white spot is still such as past, from here the difference with vitiligo can be seen.
The birthmark without pigment: After the birth or for a not long period after the birth the disease appears, the disease usually follows the nerve stanza segment to distribute, the performance is the limit spot or the suffused spot to lose color, the state is misty, the edge is mostly the form of sawtooth, there are little pigment propagate dizzy in the area around it, sometimes mixing the hazel freckle spot from the millet size to the bean size, the feeling is normal, and it will keep on constant for a life long time, which is a type of the nerve birthmark (Lerner & Aaron, 1959, pp.285-310).
Causes of Birthmarks
Currently, the actual cause that why some of the newly born babies are born with birthmarks has not been traced yet. It is considered that vascular birthmarks are not inherited. It is believed that the cavernous hemangiomas are caused by excessive growth of cells that form the lining of blood vessels of the baby. Approximately three out of four cavernous hemangiomas can be caused by a small part of the placenta that adheres to the developing baby at a very early stage of pregnancy.
Port-wine spots are regions that exist on the baby's skin that are spoiled within the nerves that control the increasing and reducing of the capillary veins. This shows that veins are open often, so that the covering epidermis is deeper because there is a constant blood veins circulation to them.
Treatment of Birthmarks
Some birthmarks disappear without treatment. However, you or your child may decide that it is best to seek treatment, if the mark is causing problems. If the child's birthmark is heavy bleeding or infected, clean it, cover it with a sterile pad and consult your doctor.
