ABSTRACT

The aim of present study was to evaluate the real impact and issues of cross-cultural workforce in the UK. In general terms, the case study highlights the areas of motivation, productivity and performance among diverse group of employees - three major goals of any human resources. The case study also has tried to explore reasons for success or failure caused by the impact of diversity.

This case study is supported by both the qualitative data using quantitative data gathered by using a self-administered questionnaire. As per the analysis done on the information gathered from both qualitative and quantitative data, the study suggests that issues and impact of cross-cultural workforce in human resources development is positive. Also efficient management of the diverse workforce do help the company to “succeed”. Diverse workforce tends to bring more competition among its co-workers and enable them to perform better which as a result helps the company to explore other opportunities. Although there are many positive outcome of diversity in the workplace, on the same note there are many negative consequences of having heterogeneous workforce as well. This case study will discuss some issues regarding discrimination, harassment and lack of opportunities for the minorities in an organisation.

Nonetheless this case study will also look into the pros and cons of positive discrimination which is also known as affirmative action (in UK) and reservation (in India).
